Largest Career Showcase for Memphis High School Seniors Returns for Third Year

Adulting 101 Showcase, Shelby County’s largest career exploration event for high school seniors, will return to the Agricenter International on February 5, 2025 for its third consecutive year. Presented by the Shelby County Trustee’s Office, Bank On Memphis, Memphis-Shelby County Schools, and the West Tennessee Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, this dynamic event will welcome more than 2,000 graduating seniors eager to chart their future paths.

Adulting 101 Showcase is a comprehensive experience designed to prepare young adults for life beyond high school. Students will engage with interactive stations representing diverse industries, including construction, cosmetology, the arts, manufacturing, and more, gaining firsthand insights into various career fields and the skills required for success. Companies and organizations who would like to have a table at the exhibition can register free of charge here.

The event also emphasizes the importance of financial literacy, offering activities to teach students essential money management skills like budgeting, planning, banking, and credit management. These components equip participants with tools to build a stable financial future as they transition into adulthood.

Lunch will be provided to all students, ensuring they have the energy and focus to make the most of the day’s opportunities. Beyond exploring industries, students will also learn about a wide range of post-high school options, from apprenticeships and vocational training to internships and alternative educational programs. Adulting 101 Showcase highlights that success comes in many forms and aims to expand students’ understanding of the possibilities available to them.

“This event is about giving our graduating seniors the tools they need to make informed decisions about their futures,” said Shelby County Trustee Regina Morrison Newman. “Adulting 101 Showcase highlights that there are countless paths to success, whether it’s entering the workforce, pursuing technical training, or continuing education.”

As students prepare to transition from high school to adulthood, Adulting 101 Showcase underscores the importance of confidence, preparedness, and informed decision-making. By providing access to industry leaders, hands-on learning experiences, and practical life skills, this Showcase empowers students to envision bright, successful futures.
