In a competitive and constantly evolving industry, construction professionals need connection, advocacy, and a workforce pipeline that’s built to last. From empowering member businesses through hands-on training opportunities to championing free enterprise at the policy level, the West Tennessee Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (WTCABC) is committed to helping your business not just survive, but thrive.
Advocating for a fair and competitive sector
At its core, WTCABC is a voice for the merit shop philosophy – advocating for policies that ensure construction contracts are awarded based on performance, safety, and value. Our team actively engages in local and state policy conversations to protect free enterprise and create a fair business environment for all contractors and builders.
Through our political action committee (PAC), WTCABC supports candidates who share our values and are committed to fostering growth in the construction industry. Whether it’s influencing legislation that impacts your bottom line or speaking up for workforce development funding, we are your boots on the ground in the policymaking process.
This advocacy work is centered on protecting your ability to operate efficiently, bid competitively, and grow confidently in a stable business environment.
Networking that creates long-term value
One of the most valuable benefits of WTCABC membership is the access it provides to a deep, supportive network of construction professionals across all trades. From large general contractors to specialized subcontractors and suppliers, our events and programs are designed to bring people together, foster collaboration, and spark long-term partnerships.
Through strategic alliances with organizations like the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Memphis Area Minority Contractors Association (MAMCA), and the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), we’re breaking silos and building a more connected, inclusive construction community. These relationships allow our members to expand their networks, explore joint ventures, and stay informed on design trends, sector challenges, and new opportunities.
Whether you’re attending one of our collaborative events, joining a committee, or taking part in a workshop, WTCABC offers intentional, high-value networking that drives business forward.
Building the future of our workforce
Workforce development is one of the cornerstones of our mission. We believe the future of the construction industry depends on a steady pipeline of highly skilled, motivated professionals – and we’ve built the infrastructure to make that future a reality.
Our apprenticeship program, accredited by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and approved by the U.S. Department of Labor, provides robust training across 12 trades, including electrical, plumbing, welding, carpentry, and HVAC. But what sets us apart is how flexible and customizable this endeavor can be.
WTCABC can train your company to administer your own apprenticeship, allowing you to customize instruction schedules, align coursework with standards, and infuse your own values into the training experience. Whether you want to build the “Pyramid Way,” the “Linkous Way,” or something unique to your culture, our team can help you make it happen.
Our certified skills assessment center also allows companies to identify gaps, evaluate existing employees, and implement targeted upskilling plans. This empowers businesses to turn their current teams into a stronger, more confident one that’s ready to meet today’s demands and tomorrow’s challenges.
Why it matters
What makes WTCABC stand out is not just what we do – it’s how we do it. When you join WTCABC, you’re joining a community of builders, thinkers, and doers who believe in the power of merit, collaboration, and investing in people. The result? A stronger business, a stronger workforce, and a stronger construction sector.
If you’re ready to grow your business with intention, connect with industry leaders, and invest in your team’s future, we’re ready to help you do just that.
